Daiquiris,Ceramics, & Pokemon

Strawberry Daiquiris…Yum!

I would first like to start off by saying, Happy National Daiquiri Day! Make sure to make one or go out and have one today, and if your 21+ add alcohol, it’s more fun that way haha. I decided to give you a recipe so you can make some at home.

Latest Ceramics Project

I thought that today I would show you my ceramic progress. I decide to make an underwater tile with some coral, mussels, a sea star, barnacles (I realized after that barnacles can’t be underwater), and a lobster (also realized I made a Maine lobster which wouldn’t be anywhere near coral, but oh well). The point was to add more to the tile which is why it is not scientifically accurate. Anywhoo, if you didn’t catch my photos on Facebook, I have added them here as well as the final product with close up photos taken from my iPhone; because iPhones have a better camera than my current phone.

I am so pleased with this piece 🙂 Total time I spent making it was about 7 hours. Painting it took me about 6 hours total. I am going to attempt to make a Thanksgiving Dinner for my next project, we are planning on traveling home for Thanksgiving and been talking about it recently so that’s why it may seem a little random. As always, I am open to any suggestions of what you’d like to see me (try) to make. 🙂

Pokemon: Good thing or not?

[Let me just state that these are my opinions and some may not agree with what I have to say, but if you keep reading then you are interested in hearing what I have to say.]

So no doubt you have heard of the new game Pokemon Go. With over 10 million downloads from the Google Play Store this game is certainly popular across the globe. In this game, you have to walk around your neighborhood and when your phone vibrates, it alerts you there is a Pokemon present. You then throw a PokeBall, at the creature, to capture and trap it within the ball. You then train these Pokemon that you have caught and battle them against other people’s Pokemon. This kids game, played by all, is both good and bad. The good part is that it encourages people to get out of the house and go for a walk. But to me that is where the good ends. I have heard the horrors stories about people tripping because they weren’t paying attention, car accidents due to distracted drivers, and a girl even walked onto a highway trying to catch Pokemon when she was hit by a car. This is crazy! A friend of mine was doing yoga when someone snapped this photo of people in the backyard catching Pokemon.

I would be so creeped out! That is my personal area, a house and the property it is on is special to the owner/renter. I grew up believing you do not go onto someone else’s property unless invited. Now personally I could care less about Pokemon, used to like them as a kid, but lost interest as I grew up, and certainly not hating on the game, but why are people so hooked on their phones? If I walk my dog, I’m not playing a game on my phone or checking Facebook, I am watching my dog be a happy little girl and smiling ear to ear. It is also safer that way too, I am watching to make sure my little girl doesn’t get hit by a car or attached by another animal, as well as making sure I am safe too. I am simply saying that if you want to play Pokemon Go, respect your neighbors’ personal space (you don’t want to be a backyard creeper), watch where you are walking, put your phone down if you are crossing the street, certainly put your phone down if you are driving, and good luck catching Pokemon.

Oh I was looking around and found this funny clip from The Simpsons where Homer is more interested in Pokemon Go than making sure his kids are safe. A good laugh but shows how distracting this game can be. Remember people, it is a game, we have to live our life and take care of the important things before we focus on this game.

Well that’s all I have for this post. Going to put my laptop down and play with my cutie, it she ever gets up haha. Have a good day, stay safe out there, and be good to each other!
